Mary G. Woodruff, 92, of Vincent, passed away on July 4, 2013 in Marietta. She was born on August 9, 1920 in Marietta, to Carl and Cornelia Weinheimer Strauss. At the age of eight, Mary moved with her family to Palmer Township and graduated from Waterford High School in 1938. She married Silas Woodruff on February 28, 1938. They lived their entire married life on the same family farm where Silas was born. She attended St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Vincent, and at Porterfield after it was moved there, was a member of the Catholic Women's Club and a charter member of the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed gardening, canning and growing flowers. Her special pleasure was her family and seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren growing up. She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Barrett of Marietta; son, James Woodruff (Becky) of Vincent; six grandchildren, Kimberly Barrett of Columbus, Cheryl Wells (Chris) of Marietta, Debbie West (Stephen) of Vincent, Jeff Woodruff of the family farm in Vincent, Jerry Woodruff (Patty) of Dayton, and Rodney Woodruff (Janelle) of Cincinnati; nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Winnie Strauss of Waterford; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on October 31, 2001, grandson, Steven Barrett; four sisters, Kathryn King, Margaret Nern, Florence Gates and Ruth Sweezy; and three brothers, Charles, William and Paul Strauss. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with The Rev. Robert Gallagher celebrating. Burial will follow in Woodruff Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.
