Maxine C. Best, 56, of Marietta, Ohio, died Sunday, August 11, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 1, 1962 in Marietta to Louis David and Ruth Ellen Doebereiner Brooker.
Maxine was a 1980 graduate of Marietta High School, where she was the Valedictorian, and a 1992 graduate of Ohio University. She had worked for Marietta Ignition for many years and American Producers for the last 8 years. Maxine was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, where she was one of the managers of BINGO, and taught RCIA and Sunday Religious Education. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles, caring for family and sharing her faith.
She is survived by her parents of Marietta; her husband, Larry D. Best, whom she married on September 14, 1996; two sons, Justin and Nathan; siblings, Denver Brooker of Cleveland, Ohio, Myron Brooker (Barbara) of Marietta, and Janice Brooker of Cincinnati, Ohio; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with The Rev. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Burial will follow in New St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with a Vigil service at 3:00 p.m.
