Mayzell Rose Atkinson

Mayzell Rose Atkinson, 84, of Vincent, died Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Marietta Center. She was born December 21, 1925 in Philippi, WV to Roy and Donna Harris Wilson. She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church. Mayzell was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with all of her family. She enjoyed the Christmas season and was well known for her cream pies. She is survived by her husband, Paul Eugene Atkinson; four daughters, Sharolyn Goetz, Marti Leib, Dawna Hines (Tim) and Mary Ann Smith (J.B.); a son, Larry Garlow; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Betty McBee; three brothers, Donald, Robert, and Dan Wilson, as well as step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Mayzell was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence D. Garlow, a granddaughter, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2010, at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with the family officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday from 11:00 a.m. up until time of the service. Her burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg, WV.
