Melva Jean Callihan, 81, of Marietta, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Marietta Center. She was born December 4, 1934 in Dallison, WV to Frank and Margaret Wharton McVey. Melva was a 1952 graduate of Marietta High School. She was a member of the Cutler Chapel United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing and NASCAR. Melva is survived by five daughters, Judy Brooks (Charles) of Cuyahoga Falls, Becky Kidd (Eddy) of Marietta, Pam Carpenter of Marietta, Connie Stark of Suffolk, VA, and Karen Bennett (David) of Marietta; one son, Leonard Ray Callihan, Jr. (Evelyn) of Little Hocking; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Pat Nicholson (Clayton) of Marietta and Anna Bauerbach of Beverly, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Ray "Tinker" Callihan, Sr. on September 26, 2000, a son, Earl Ray Callihan and brother, Paul McVey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Randolph officiating. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and for one hour prior to service on Monday. Burial will be in Gravel Bank Cemetery. Donations can be made to Cutler Chapel UMC in lieu of flowers.
