Michael Scott Christy, 33, of Marietta, Ohio, died Friday, July 7, 2017 at Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on December 28, 1983 in Columbus to James Michael and Jennifer Joyce Christy.

Michael was a 2003 graduate of Parkersburg Catholic High School. He had worked with his family in their business, 134 Bistro. He was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption and was a avid sports fan of many different sports and teams, especially Ohio State, he was their #1 fan! Michael loved his Labrador Retrievers, Chloe, Jack, Bella and Reuben.

He is survived by his mother, Jennifer Christy, of Marietta; three brothers, Richard, Patrick and Andrew Christy, all of Marietta; maternal grandmother, Bonnie Joyce of Marietta; four uncles, Kevin Joyce of Marietta, Jeff Joyce (Janice) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Frank Christy (Mary Lou) of Vero Beach, Florida, and Ted Christy (Brenda) of Cincinnati, Ohio; one aunt, Peggy Rilling (Bill) of Cincinnati; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Christy; maternal grandfather William Michael Joyce; and paternal grandparents, F. Leonard and Helen Christy.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with The Rev. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Burial of his ashes will take place at a later date in Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service held at 3:00 p.m.
