Nancy Louise Pyles

Nancy Louise Mullett Pyles was born in New Martinsville, WV on August 24th, 1926 to the late Mary Nancy Atkinson Mullett and Jesse Beryl Mullett.
A member of the marching band and the Young Ladies Union, Nancy graduated from Magnolia High School in New Martinsville in 1944.
In 1946 she married David Reed Pyles, also of New Martinsville, and moved to Marietta, OH where she worked in banking while her husband attended Marietta College on the GI bill. Nancy and Dave built a home and moved to Williamstown, WV in 1953 where she lived until July of 2012. Nancy and Dave celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in that home, just prior to Dave's passing in 2006.
After several years as a homemaker, Nancy began a new career at Marietta College where she worked for 21 years.
Nancy was a 60 year member of Chapter BH of the PEO Sisterhood and of the First United Methodist Church of Williamstown where she was active in the Mary Martha Circle. She was also active in the Williamstown Women's Club and several local bridge clubs.
Nancy is survived by two sons, Michael David Pyles (Cindy), Jeffrey Thomas Pyles (Teresa), both of Marietta, and three grandchildren, John Michael Pyles (Rachel) of Cincinnati, OH, Sarah Elizabeth Miller (David) of Columbus, OH, and Jason Thomas Pyles of Marietta; by three brothers, Charles S. Mullett (Patricia) of Fairmont, WV, Thomas B. Mullett (Jeanne) of Hilton Head, SC, and David E. Mullett (Sandra) of Lake Charles, LA, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, several relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Gedon officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Family and friends meant everything to Nancy, who will be remembered for her thoughtfulness. Until spring of 2012 she visited those who could not move about, she faithfully sent cards, letters and thank you notes.
The family extends its gratitude and sincere thanks to Dr. Kelli Cawley and the staff of the Strecker Cancer Center, to the staff of The Pines at Glenwood, to the staff of Harmar Place, to the members of the Mary Martha Circle, the sisters of PEO Chapter BH, and to Nancy's many friends for their support at a very difficult time.
