Nell Ann Harper, 74, of Marietta, lost her battle with cancer on September 17, 2015, surrounded by family at the home of her daughter, Dee Lang.
Nell worked for many years in the food marketing industry in sales. She was a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union, Local No. 1059 of Columbus Ohio. She retired from Broughton's in 2006. Nell enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren playing cards. She loved spending her winters in Florida and time spent at the beach with family and friends. Nell enjoyed comfort food and going out to eat with her "girls" (her support group) and having coffee with them every Friday morning. Nell had a true passion for bargain shopping. No one could surpass her clothing and shoe collection.
Nell was preceded in death by her son, Jay Harper, of Marietta, her parents, Francis Foss of Marietta and William Schumacher of Canton, siblings; Thomas Wallace of North Carolina, Conrad Wallace of Marietta, Shirley Lee of Marietta, Lyle Wallace of Canton, and Wilbur Schumacher of Canton, and a special brother-in-law, Wilmer Lee Sr., of Marietta.
She is survived by her daughter, Dee Lang, and husband, Larry, of Waterford, brother, William Schumacher, and wife, Nancy, of Florida. Nell was Nanny to Shannon Harper Campbell of Marietta, Wes McGlumphy and wife, Sara, of Veto Lake, Derek McGlumphy and his wife, Shannon, of Veto Lake, Tyler McGlumphy and his girlfriend, Jessica Sebring, of Waterford, and Tori Weber of Waterford; Six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Nell's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, 408 Front Street, Marietta, Ohio. Family will greet friends on Saturday, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
