Norman Gale Lauer
Norman Gale Lauer, 78, of Fourth St., Marietta, died Friday, February 13, 2009, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born August 16, 1930 in Stanleyville to John and Arleine Berg Lauer. He was a graduate of Marietta High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from August, 1948 to July, 1952. Norman had worked at North American Aviation in Columbus, and retired from Kardex in Marietta. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, was a 3rd degree Knight in the Marietta K of C and was a member of VFW Post #5108. Norman is survived by his wife, Edith Heiss Lauer, they were married on September 13, 1954; his four daughters, Diane Morgan (Daniel) of Youngstown, Pamela Brockmeier (Todd) of Marietta, Angela Pugh (Edward) of Scott Depot, WV and Mary Beth "Betsy" Caldwell (David) of Mashpee, MA; a son-in-law, Robert Derek, Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN; twelve grandchildren, Jennifer Henry (Adam), Christine Derek, Jonathan Morgan (Ronnie), Aaron Morgan (Rachael), Danielle Conaway (Kris), Nicole Hill (Steven), Eric Brockmeier (Sara), Evan Brockmeier, Vanessa and Victoria Pugh, and Dillon and Erica Caldwell; eleven great grandchildren and a brother, Delbert Lauer, of Marietta. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Susan Derek. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be in New St. Mary's Cemetery, with full military honors. Friends may call at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and anytime on Sunday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a Vigil Service at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
