Oliver E. Little

Oliver E. Little, Jr, 59, of Marietta, Ohio died Wednesday (May 11, 2011) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Akron, Ohio on July 7, 1951 and was the son of Oliver E. Little, Sr. and Wanda Hunt Little. Oliver was a 1969 graduate of St. Marys High School and a 1971 graduate of Mountain State College with an accounting degree. He worked for Broughton Foods Company for 42 years. He was a former member of the Marietta Jaycees where he served as President from 1981-1982. He received the JCI Senatorship in 1988. Oliver served on the board, and was instrumental in starting the Jaycee Estates Apartment Complex and was a volunteer for Safety Town for many years. In 1994, he was named the "Gabe Zide Citizen of the Year" by the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the board for Marietta Mills and Winberi Apartment Complexes. He was a very caring father and husband who always put his family first.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Monna S. Little, one son, JD Little (girlfriend, Amy Lukens), one daughter Lindsay (Josh) Thomas, two brothers, Herbert McKinley (fianc, Sandy Proctor), Clyde (Leslie) Little, and one sister, Sylvia (John) Parsons. He was the brother-in-law to Larry (Debbie) Mincks, Sr, Darlene (Jim) Bonnette, and Charlene (Lowell) Bonnette. He is also survived by nephews Eric Little, Andrew Little, Mike Higgins, John Higgins, Larry Mincks, Jr, Chris Mincks, Shawn Mincks, and Jim Bonnette. Surviving nieces are Melissa Wilson, Michelle Tillery, Debbie Schottelkotte, Ellen McVicar and Angie Miller. He is also survived by mother-in-law Dorothy Mincks and many life-long friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one infant son and father-in-law Donald Mincks.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Kapple officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
