Paul Thomas (Tom) Long returned to his Lord and Savior on February 5, 2016 from his residence in Fleming, Ohio, surrounded by loved ones.
Tom is predeceased by his parents Howard and Lillian Long of Akron, Ohio.
Tom is survived by his wife of fifty years, Margaretta Long; his son Dustin Long and wife Brenda Long of Parkersburg; his daughter Greta Lynch and husband Trevor Lynch of Barlow.
Tom is lovingly remembered by his four grandsons, Wade Thomas Lynch and Wyatt Lynch and wife Ashley Lynch of Barlow; Justin Cochran and Michelle Creel of Parkersburg; Evan Cochran and wife Jesse Cochran of Parkersburg and Tom's granddaughter, Marisa Cochran of Parkersburg; Tom's brothers, Mike Long of South Carolina and Ken Long of Texas; and many dear friends. Tom and Margaretta have four great grandchildren, Aurora Rose Cochran, Jayla Cochran, Ryleigh Cochran and Braxton Cochran.
Tom was born May 17,1947 in Akron, Ohio. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Kearsarge, USS Barton, and lastly, the USS Conway. His home port was Norfolk, Virginia.
Tom retired from the American Municipal Power Company as a Supervisory Stationary Engineer. Tom and Margaretta have been members of Pinehurst Christian Church over twenty-five years.
Military funeral services prepared by The Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home will be officiated by Evangelist Jeff Tucker on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at Pinehurst Christian Church, State Route 550,Marietta, Ohio beginning with visitation from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and concluded with a meal in the fellowship hall.
Tom requested donations to the Bulls Eye 4H Shooting Club, Ohio State University Extension Office, 202 Davis Avenue, Marietta Ohio 45750 in lieu of flowers.
