Pauline Alice Smith

Pauline Alice Smith, 93, of Marietta passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Emeritus of Marietta. She was born April 1, 1918 in Marietta to the late Charles H. Ingraham and Clara Whitney Ingraham. She attended Washington County schools and graduated from Marietta High School in 1935. In 1940 she married Harold Alfred Smith, her husband for 49 years.
Pauline was employed for several years with the S. S. Kressge Company. She was a lifetime member of the Valley View Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader and pianist. In recent years she attended the Norwood Methodist Church. She was also active in 4-H and was a charter member of the RSVP crafters.
She is survived by five sons, Harold "Jerry" (Lorna) Smith of Norwick, OH, Stephen (Marcia)Smith of Universal City, TX, Charles (Fon) Smith of Frederick, MD, John Smith of Crownsville, MD, and Brian (Yolanda) Smith of Marietta; eight grandchildren Nathaniel (Nancy) Smith of the Republic of Singapore, Kenneth (Andrea) Smith of Boonsboro, MD, Justin (Debbie) Smith of Marietta, Jason Smith of Norwick, OH, Regina Smith of San Antonio, TX, Brandon (Johnna) Smith of Marietta, Miranda Smith and Caleb Smith of Marietta; seven great-grandchildren, Giuliana, Adriana, and Eliana Smith of the Republic of Singapore, Owen, Avery and Emma Smith of Boonsboro, MD and Alexis Smith of Marietta. She is also survived by brother, Dr. Charles H. Ingraham of Delaware, OH; sister, Kathryn Bowen of Marietta and several nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by her friend David Myers.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold; brother, F. Whitney Ingraham and grandson Jeffrey Smith.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Comfort Keepers of Marietta, Marietta Home Health and Hospice, and Emeritus at Marietta.
Funeral services will be held at Valley View Baptist Church in Reno, Ohio, on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul Morton officiating. Burial will be in the East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Thursday at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
