Peggy Ann DeVol, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully passed away under hospice care on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 20, 1938, in Marietta, Ohio, to Dale Beaver and Pauline Marie Griffin.
Peggy graduated from Williamstown High School in the Class of 1956 and continued her education where she received her degree at Marietta College. With a passion for education, she began her career in the Marietta City School system. Peggy then dedicated over twenty years to Marietta College in the admissions office serving as Office Manager and Admissions Counselor.
On September 27, 1957, Peggy married the love of her life, Larry Parker DeVol. They shared a beautiful life together for an extraordinary 67 years. Peggy's legacy continues through her children: her son, Jeffrey Parker DeVol, and his partner Mildred Modesitt; her daughter, Kelley DeVol Hockensmith, and her husband, Shane Wesley. She was a cherished grandmother to Jonathan Griffin DeVol, Jennifer Nicole Cunningham, Corbin Wesley Hockensmith, Jackson Parker DeVol, Jamison Taylor DeVol, and Jillian Marie Modesitt.
An avid reader and talented in various crafts, Peggy found immense joy in sewing, knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. She cherished her doll collection and she enjoyed solving puzzles. Peggy also enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV and to other countries for their family motorcycle/atv business. She looked forward to gathering family for holidays and special events.
A private graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown, WV, to honor Peggy's life and legacy.
