Phyllis Madeline Matheny Longgrear, 79, Williamstown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, after fighting a courageous battle with a long illness.
Born in Marietta February 11, 1934 to the late Raymond and Ruby Michaels Matheny. She is survived by children Christopher (Sandy) Longgrear, Becky Rae Scott, Robyn Lynn Hasley, Kelly (Mary Jo) Longgrear, and brother-in-law Walter Casto and sister Karen (Earl) McIntyre. Also by twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings Wanda, Dorothy, Jean, Sonny and Shirley. Also by grandson Corey Daniel Webb, nephews Kevin and Keith Casto, and niece Kim Sprague. Also surviving are special friends Jack Alrutz, Michael Scott and Dickie Hall, who also looked after and lovingly lent himself as her never failing friend.
Phyllis was employed at Singer Sewing Machine Company, where she met and married Paul J. Longgrear. She was later employed at Teri Ann's and Fenton Art. An avid lover of nature, her floral gardens were admired and enjoyed by many.
Her family will greet friends at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 25th from 9:00 until 10:45 am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, at Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown.
