Another veteran has died...Ralph Edwin Gorham, 85, of Deming Road, Fleming, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Marietta Center. He was born February 4, 1925 in Washington County to Samuel and Nellie Hayes Gorham. He was a 1947 graduate of Barlow Rural High School. Ralph was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in France and Germany. He had been employed by B.F. Goodrich, retiring in 1967. Ralph was a member of the Barlow Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post #64, and the NRA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, his pets and guns. Ralph is survived by a daughter, Kathy Rinard (Richard) of Marietta, two sons, Rick E. Gorham (Tiffany)of Marietta and Stacy Gorham of Athens, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a brother Bob Gorham (Carol) of Barlow, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Frances Jones Gorham on May 26, 1997, also preceded by a son, Samuel Gorham, brother, Charles, and sister, Rachael. Funeral services will be held at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 with Pastor Chuck Kiser officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Barlow Central Cemetery, with full military rites.
