Ray Newell, 93, of Vincent, died at 5:15 a.m. on Monday, September 6, 2010 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. He was born on February 6, 1917 to Charles C. and Gertrude Meek Newell. Ray was a WWII veteran in the Army Air Corp, where he served as a flight engineer on the B-24's. He retired in 1979 from Penn Metal Corporation, in Vienna, as a Crane Operator. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing and hunting ginseng. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Ann Everson of Lenoir, NC; his son, Dale Newell (Marcia) of Cutler; seven grandchildren, Larry, David, Timothy, and Eric Everson, Lisa West, Emily McCloy and Andrew Newell; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Lenna Belle Hubler of Boardman, OH; and his brother, Allen Newell of Delaware, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae (Reed) Newell, who he married on December 16, 1942. His brother, Henry Newell and sister, Maggie Howell also preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bartlett Cemetery, with full military honors being observed. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
