Raymond Albert "Pap" Brooker, 80, of Lowell, died Monday, February 3, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born June 28, 1933 in Lowell to Clem and Lucy Bauerbach Brooker. He was a 1951 graduate of Lowell High School. Pap had worked at Marietta Concrete, J.A. Schwendeman & Sons, and retired from Wieser & Cawley. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, and was a 3rd Degree member of the K of C. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and restoring antique tractors. Pap is survived by two children, Jeff Brooker (Tamara) of Shoreview, MN and Diane Needham (Mark) of Plain City; three grandchildren, Sarah and Jill Needham and Rachel Brooker; six brothers, Bernard (Julia), Howard (Susan), David (Doris), all of Lowell, Louis (Ruth) of Marietta, Robert (Donna) of Beverly, Fred (Ethel) of Lowell, three sisters, Hilda Gebhart and Rita Offenberger (Harold), both of Lowell and Bertha Lasure (Delbert) of New Martinsville, WV. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Gurnsey Brooker, and two brothers, Edward and Anthony. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Lowell, with the Rev. Timothy Shannon as celebrant. Visitation will be at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where there will be a Vigil Service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
