Raymond E. Dennis, Jr., 93, of Marietta, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at his residence. He was born August 12, 1923 in Lancaster, PA to Raymond E. Sr. and Helen Gibble Dennis. Raymond received his Bachelors degree in business from Marietta College in 1951 and also was the college's yearbook editor that year. He received his Masters degree in business from Ohio University in 1958. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, having served on the USS Phaon and the USS Dionysus in the Pacific. He had retired from Dravo Corporation as an accountant and then worked for Union Slag as office manager for ten more years. Raymond was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lambda Chi Alpha, and the journalism honorary, Pi Delta Epsilon. He was an avid crossword puzzler. He is survived by his wife, Sara Jane Racer Dennis; three children, Mike Dennis (Heike) of Marietta, James Patrick Dennis (Brooke) of Atlanta, GA and Andrew Dennis of Dublin, Ireland; four grandchildren, Shandra Porreca, Sarah, Aaron and Quinn Dennis; great grandson, Preston Porreca; sister, Dottie Brooks of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Claire, and three sisters, Faye, Jean and Patsy. Graveside services to be announced at a later date at Valley Cemetery.
