Richard Thomas "Dick" Armor, 91, of Marietta, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Heartland of Marietta. He was born October 12, 1923 in Marietta to Louis H. and Nelle Veon Armor, Sr. He was a 1942 graduate of Marietta High School, lettering in football, basketball and track. He graduated from Marietta College in 1951. Mr. Armor was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy Pre Flight School and then the Army Air Corps, where he was commissioned a 2nd. Lieutenant, having flown B-25 bombers. He had been a sales engineer for Dravo Corp. Dick was a life member of American Legion Post #64. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis and was a licensed pilot. He is survived by his son, Richard T. Armor, Jr. and wife, Carol, of Marietta; four grandchildren, Pete Armor (Kathy), Angie Greathouse (Rick), Tony Armor, and Bryan Armor (Valerie); five great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Natalie Greathouse, Brent Armor, Zackery Armor and Jessica Crosby, and a brother, John D. Armor (Sara) of Marietta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Archer Armor, on May 27, 2014, two daughters, Garry Ann and Ann Veon Armor, and a brother, Louis H. Armor and his wife, Bonnie. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at New St. Mary's Cemetery, with the Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell officiating, as well as having military honors. Friends may call at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Donations may be made to the Humane Society, Marietta Right to Life, or a charity of the donor's choice.
