Richard Dale "Dick" Landaker, 81, of Lowell, died Sunday, September 7, 2014, at his home. He was born on March 7, 1933 in Noble County to Leighton Lafayette and Florence Irene Porter Landaker. He graduated from Dexter City High School in 1951. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served on a ship during the Korean Conflict. After returning from service he went to work at Interlake Steel Plant, where he retired after 33 years of employment. He was a life member of the VFW Post 5108 in Marietta and life member of Lowell American Legion, Post 750, and a member of the Lowell Moose Lodge 2382. Dick is survived by his wife, Karen Simmons Tornes Landaker, whom he married on December 15, 1990; six children, Carla Farmer (Grant, "Mitch") of Lowell, Yvonne Schrader (William "Bill") of Belpre, William Douglas (Debbie) of Dale, Carl (friend, Grace) of Waterford, Dale "Aric" of Beverly, and Martha Nutter (Robert "Rob") of Waterford; two stepsons, Robert A. "Robbie" Tornes (Laura) and Kevin J. Tornes, both of Waterford; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; three sisters, Shilbia Fleming of Denver, CO, Sue Wilson (Gary) of Fleming and Linda Lewis (Niles Smith) of Belpre, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Louise Davis. Friends may call at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at the Lowell Chapel with the Rev. Jim Porter officiating. Burial will be in Salem Township Cemetery with full military honors. Donations to the L-A Fire & Rescue, P.O.
