Richard M. Oki (Birth name: Michio Okihara), 77, of Cutler St., Marietta, died at 1:35 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 14, 1931 in North Kohala, Hawaii to Seiichi and Matsu Morikawa Okihara. On January 19, 1963, he married Marjorie Lou Rinard, she preceded him death on October 31, 2008. Richard was a member of The First Baptist Church in Marietta and former member of The Grace Brothern Church in Ashland, Ohio. He and his wife enjoyed ringing the bells for the Salvation Army every year while living in Mansfield and Ashland, Ohio. Richard never met a stranger, and because of that, he is survived by many friends in the area, especially, his friends at The First Baptist Church. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at The First Baptist Church, 301 Fourth Street, Marietta, with The Rev. David S. Bilyeu officiating. Private burial of his ashes will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery at a later time.
