Richard Vaughn Rogers

Richard Vaughn "Dick" Rogers, 83, of Marietta, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Harmar Place. He was born December 2, 1928 in Marietta to Glen Franklin and Josephine Inez Morris Rogers. He was a 1946 graduate of Marietta High School . Dick was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea. He retired from Ohio Bell in 1986, following 33 years of service. He was a life member of American Legion Post #64, VFW Post #5108, 40 & 8, and F.O.E. Lodge 458. Dick was a lifelong Ham radio operator and Cincinnati Reds fan. He is survived by his son, Donald O. Rogers (Deborah Ann) of Canton, his daughter, Carolee Johnson (Harry) of Marietta, loving grandfather of Kurt Rogers (Heather), Joshua Kidd, Leah, Kelley, and Blaine Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jeanne Bailey, on February 13, 1974, they had been married on October 10, 1959. Military graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2012, with The Rev. Steven Mahaffey officiating. Friends may call at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to American Legion Post #64, 812 Beverly Place or VFW Post #5108, 319 Pike St., Marietta, OH 45750.
