Roger Allen Saffell

August 29, 1940 — February 19, 2011

Roger Allen Saffell, 70, of Woodland Ave., Marietta, died Saturday, February 19, 2011, at his home. He was born August 29, 1940 in Marietta to Jack and Eloise Skinner Saffell. Roger was raised in the home of his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Della Skinner. He was a 1959 graduate of Marietta High School. He had retired from Richardson Printing after over 40 years of service. Roger was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Moose Lodge #1823. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, remodeling, and was an avid OSU Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan. Roger is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Henke Saffell, two sons, Greg (Angela) and Brad (fiance Traci Fout) of Marietta, three grandchildren Brett and Alissa Saffell and Jeremiah Fout, a sister, Sandra Jolley (Bill) of Quaker City, many nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell as celebrant. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. There will be a Vigil Service at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be at Valley Cemetery. Donations may be made to Strecker Cancer Center.
