Roger Dale Wittekind, a devoted husband, father, and Papaw, passed away on October 26, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on August 8, 1955, in Marietta, Ohio, to Glen and Betty Wittekind. Roger lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family.

Roger cherished his 48-year marriage to his loving wife, Janie Cawley Wittekind, building an amazing family. Together, they created a lifetime of cherished memories, sharing countless moments of joy, laughter, and some good adventures. As a father, Roger's greatest legacy is the strength and resilience he instilled in his children. His guidance, support, and unwavering presence helped shape them into capable, compassionate individuals. His children, Amanda Coday (Tom) and Jeremy Wittekind, will forever carry his lessons and love forward. Roger's family extends to his beloved grandchildren, Skylar Coday and Trent Coday, who brought immense joy to his life. He loved them BIG!

After many years of dedicated service at Wieser and Cawley's, Roger pursued his entrepreneurial spirit and established his own roofing company. His tireless work ethic and commitment to excellence earned him a reputation as a skilled craftsman and respected business owner.

In his free time, Roger was an avid sports enthusiast, passionately cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers and football teams. His illness did not stop his son from taking him to motocross races that he enjoyed watching. Roger enjoyed traveling down to his daughter and son-in-law’s house in Louisiana. Roger was a proud member of Marietta Elks Lodge #477, American Legion Post #64, and VFW #5108. Through these organizations, Roger embodied the values of community service, camaraderie, and patriotism. Roger's impact on those around him was profound. His larger-than-life personality, infectious laughter, and wild spirit inspired countless lives. He was ONE-OF-A-KIND.

Surviving Roger is his devoted wife, Janie Wittekind of 48 years; his son Jeremy Wittekind and his daughter Amanda Coday (Tom); grandchildren, Skylar Coday and Trent Coday; brothers, David and Doug Wittekind; sister Sally Wittekind Breitstadt, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will deeply miss his love and guidance.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Susan Stansbury.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Roger’s niece Dr. Kelli Cawley and the compassionate team at Marietta Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness during Roger’s final days.

Following the wishes of his family, Roger will be cremated with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. As we celebrate Roger's life, we honor his unwavering commitment to family, love, and community. His memory will continue to inspire us to live life with purpose, laughter, and unconditional love.
