Sandra Lou Hill, 68, of Barlow, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born March 21, 1941 in Tiffin to Elvin Clair and Cecelia Kathryn Houck Adkins. She was a 1959 graduate of Bowling Green High School. Sandy worked for 24 years for Dravo/Connex Pipe Systems, then for eight years for MIE Corporation, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ; American Legion Post 64 Auxiliary, and was a charter member of Scenic Rivers Quilters Society in Marietta. Sandy was known as a special aunt to many neighborhood children, always enjoying watching them play and swim in her pool. She is survived by her husband, Steve Hill, who she married on August 27, 1994; her mother-in-law, Lila Hill of Marietta; aunt, Virginia Jacob; cousins, Marilyn Crouse, Andrew and William Houck, Cindy Fuller all of Tiffin and Keith Jacob of Daytona Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Virgil Brookover, a step son, Robert Brookover, and a brother, Norman Adkins. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Linda Steelman officiating. Burial of her ashes will be in Barlow Central Cemetery. The family will greet friends at a reception immediately following her services at the church. Donations may be made to the Humane Society, P.O. Box 5 or to the Memorial Fund at her church, 318 Front St., Marietta, OH 45750.
