Ronald "Scott" Goddard, 34, of E. Spring St., Marietta, died Sunday, December 13, 2009, at his home. He was born March 13, 1975 in Marietta to Ronald Guy Goddard and Cathy Jo Kelly Sutphen. He was a 1993 graduate of Marietta High School and had attended Washington State Community College and Ohio University. Scott held a private pilot's license and had a passion for flying. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Braiden Scott Goddard and his mother, Jennifer Davis, of Marietta; father, Ronald G. Goddard (Diana) of Williamstown, WV; mother, Cathy Jo Sutphen (Dennis) of Valrico, FL; brother, Chad Eric Goddard (Mari) of Marietta; step sister, Marie Lynn Rea of Williamstown; grandparents, Robert and Dora Kelly of Marietta, Ruth Bott (Charles) of Marietta and William Goddard (Mary) of Ashland, OH; two nephews, Ethan and Chandler Goddard; one niece, Skylar Whitlock, and many extended family and friends, especially Barbara Miller and Michelle Boyce. Funeral services will be held at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Friday, December 18, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Doug Stockton officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in Scott's memory to L & P Services, Inc., 207 D Colegate Dr., Marietta, OH 45750. L & P is Marietta's community mental health, drug and alcohol treatment provider.
