Stanley Dwight Schmidt

Stanley Dwight Schmidt, 58, of Schau Road, Lowell, died Thursday, January 29, 2009, at Heartland of Marietta. He was born January 13, 1951 in Marietta to Frank Dwight and Kathleen Louise Brown Schmidt. He was a 1969 graduate of Fort Frye High School. Following his graduation, he had worked at Fenton Art Glass and the Silo Division of Marietta Concrete. He then worked for the Washington County Highway Department for over 25 years, as well as for Hickey's Water Hauling, Ralph Anderson Logging and McCarty Trucking. Stanley enjoyed hunting, fishing, and animals. He is survived by his wife, Diana Marie Parks Schmidt, they were married on January 18, 1974; twin brother, Steven Schmidt (Cathy) of Lowell, younger brother, Mike Schmidt, of Marietta, aunt, Marjorie Brown, of Lowell, several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law, and cousins, as well as his loyal canine companion, Sheba. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, one in 1975 and one in 1977. The family would like to thank the following people and businesses for their help over the years of his illness: Kenny Dillon, Ralph Morgenstern, Rich Crosby, Dave McCarty, First Settlement, Busy Bee and Roger's restaurants, Selby General Hospital, Home Nursing and Hospice, Heartland, and Interim Health Care. His funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with the Rev. Timothy Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Lowell. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the L-A Fire & Rescue Squad, P.O.
