Susan Dawn Brooker

Susan Dawn Brooker, 72, of the Churchtown community died Friday, December 18, 2015, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born December 13, 1943 in Marietta to the late Elmer and Garravine Stage Phelps. Susan had provided child care in her home. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the CWC. Susan enjoyed her gourd crafting, making birdhouses, as well as many other items out of the gourds. For over 20 years, she had sold her crafts at the River City Farmers Market. She was an avid reader. Susan married Howard Brooker on December 28, 1966 and he survives along with a son, Nicholas, of Belpre; a sister, Diane Strahler (Roger) of Marietta, as well as numerous in laws and nieces and nephews. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be held at St. John's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, with the Rev. Virgil Reischman as celebrant. Friends may call at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Donations may be made to the St. John's School Foundation, 17784 St. Rt. 676, Marietta, OH 45750.
