The Rev. Dr. Virginia J Fordham, 89, of Marietta passed away August 24, 2015 at Harmar Place.
She was born in Marietta, the daughter of Harlan and Irene (Hawkins) Fordham of Marietta.
She was called to the Christian ministry. Her extensive education included: A.B. from Marietta College, B.D. from Andover-Newton Theological School, S.T.M. from Oberlin College, and D. Min. from Vanderbilt University. In later years she took continuing education courses at Washington State Community College.
Rev. Fordham served as Pastor of the Highland Ridge Community Church for twenty years. She had also served as pastor of churches in Conneuat, Somerset, Hannibal and Sardis, Ohio. In the 1960s she taught religious education in the Washington County Schools and was owner of the Midwest Book Shop in Marietta.
She was the younger sister of Delbert Fordham and David Fordham, and the aunt of a niece and several nephews.
Visitation will be at the First Presbyterian Church in Marietta on Friday, August 28, 2015, beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by services at 1:00 PM., conducted by the Rev. David Smith. Burial will be in Tunnel Cemetery.
