Thomas Eugene Walters, 74, of 722 Lancaster Street, Marietta, Ohio, died at 1:00 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Marietta on August 3, 1934 to Eugene Alvin and Anna Elizabeth Zimmerman Walters. Tom is a 1952 graduate of St. Mary Catholic School. He served in the United States Army. Tom was self employed in retail food service, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, M. Arlene Moore Walters, whom he married on April 12, 1958; five daughters, May Walters of Seattle, Washington, Melanie Bangert (Robert) of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Melinda Lisk (Craig) of Marietta, Marcia Ramstrom of Redding, CA, and Megan Walters of Black Lick, Ohio; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Robert Walters (Miriam) of Devola and James Walters (Brenda) of Reedly, CA; four sisters, Martha Henniger (Donald) of Visalia, CA, Helen McKenna (Richard) of Reno, Jane Davis of Visalia, CA, and Jeanne Webber (Robert) of Kingsburg, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Stephen and Eric Walters. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with The Rev. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Burial will follow in St. John The Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Churchtown. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with a Vigil service being held at 3:00 p.m. that day.
