Victor J. Vandall, our Pappy Vic, 82, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, January 6, 2025. He was born on January 31, 1942 in Spencer, WV to John and Ollie Henthorn Vandall.
Vic lived his entire life in the Marietta area. He retired at Eramet in 1999 and then became a wood vendor for Washington and Morgan County Community Action, for many years. He also enjoyed caring for his cattle as a hobby. Vic was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, hunting and ginsenging with his son and grandkids. He loved the woods and enjoyed nature. Everyone enjoyed the stories he would tell.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Coughenour Vandall, whom he married on August 25, 1973; three children, Vicky Wittekind, Tessie Callihan (Dale) and Romen Vandall; five grandchildren, Hillary, Morgan, Andrew (Janssen), Marcus (Wendy) and Maris; and six great grandchildren, Ily, Eli, Emery, Dawson, Layton and Jennings. He was also survived by his siblings, Benjamin “Smith” Vandall, Juanita Littleton and a daughter from a previous marriage, Crystal Crumley.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME, with Willie Hood officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation is on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
