Virginia Elizabeth Richardson

Virginia Elizabeth Ewing Richardson, 92, of 906 Colegate Drive, Marietta, passed away at her home on March 21, 2009, after a protracted illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert E. Richardson, Sr., who passed away on March 18, 2008, and by her father, Lee Ewing and mother, Lucy Lemley Ewing, and her brothers, Clarence and Gilbert Ewing. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Sandford; four children, June (Mike) Rough, Robert (Ida) Richardson, Jr., Ann (Dennis) Valentine, and David (Pamela) Richardson; fourteen grandchildren, Joy Goodman, Rebecca Davis, Randall Prentice, Julia Medlyn, Rachael O'Brien, Paula Crawford, Lee, Aidan and Zachary Richardson, Susannah Rhodes, Sarah Korodi, Seth, Benjamin and Gregory Richardson, and twenty two great grandchildren. Mrs. Richardson was born on February 26, 1917 near Cornerville in Washington County. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1934 and Marietta Business College in 1935. She was subsequently employed as a secretary in the Celotex Corporation in Indiana, the Marietta Chamber of Commerce, and legal secretary for Marietta attorney, Robert Noll. On March 17, 1945, she was married to Robert E. Richardson. In addition to raising her children, she was employed for many years as office manager for the Richardson Printing Corporation. She was cofounder and a charter member of the Chapel on the Hill. Visitation is at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ron Somerville will be officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park, Rt. 7, Marietta. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marietta Memorial Hospital Foundation, P.O.
