Virginia Irene (Ginny) Roddy, 72, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from complications due to Covid after many years of kidney disease.
Ginny was born (9th in the line of 13 siblings) on July 15, 1952, in Marietta, Ohio, to Benedict Aloysius and Mary Eileen (Hayes) Roddy.
Ginny (at 9 years old) with her Family made a cross-country move to Tujunga, California in 1961, where she graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in 1970.
After high school she began work at Los Robles Reginal Medical Center, in Thousand Oaks, California. She was promoted through the hospital system and established her 30-year career as a hemodialysis technician. She was compassionate & dedicated to faithful care of each & all. She was so loving and found fulfillment in living her life; humbly serving her patients, family and community.
In 2014 she retired back near her childhood hometown in Ohio. Ginny had an enormous heart. She was the epitome of a kind sister, daughter, aunt. She was beloved and adored by her nieces and nephews. You could feel her love and compassion. She was an angel on earth and so good to everyone. She was a gift to all who knew her. She loved all God’s creatures and cared for many animals over the years. She once scooped up several Owlets on the side of the road from a mother owl who died and took them home nursed then to health & released them.
She is survived by her siblings, Vincent Roddy of Marietta, Rita (Steve) Westbrook, Harriett R. Jenkins of Cincinnati, Ohio, Julia E. Roddy, Benedict E. Roddy, Mary Ann (Max deceased) Malone of Barlow-Vincent, Ohio and Shirley Roddy of Marietta, Ohio.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Angela Sue Roddy, Michael Andrew Roddy, Margaret Eileen (James) Schoen and Alice Louise (Frank) Valadez and Daniel Lewis Roddy.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Barlow Central Cemetery, with the Rev. David Huffman officiating.
