Virginia M. Smith was born May 21, 1915 in Walnut Cove, NC and passed away on June 25, 2011 in Washington, DC. She raised her family and spent the majority of her life in Marietta, OH. She was the loving mother of Joan V. Alexander, Edward F. Smith, and Patricia E. McCallan. Virginia was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 plus years, Paul W. Smith, daughter, Joan V. Alexander, daughter in law, Sylvia W. Smith, and sons in law, Herman B. Alexander and Jesse B. McCallan, Jr. Virginia had seven grandchildren, Melanie Smith, Pauletta Henson, Tresca Smith, Andre Smith, Craig Alexander, Cydnee Brown and Stacy McCallan. Virginia also had nine great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. All will remember her sense of humor and love of cooking and entertaining. She also loved to garden, bird watch, read romance novels, watch soap operas, and play cards. Virginia will be missed by her family and friends.
