Violet Fay Blair

September 29, 1932 — September 20, 2024

Violet Fay Putnam Blair was lovingly embraced in the arms of her Lord and Savior early Friday, September 20, 2024, after a brief illness.

She was born September 29, 1932, in Parkersburg, WV to the late Roy Lee and Lottie Elizabeth Wilson Putnam.  On January 29, 1976, she married the late Charles W. Blair.  Together, they shared their love of the Lord, traveled the United States, and enjoyed the company of their family and friends.

Violet was most proud of her family; children, Dwain (Bonnie - deceased) Marshall, Vada Ingram (deceased), Stephanie (John Carson) Mullins, Sharon (Gary) Meyer, Janet (Steven) Francis, Bryan Marshall, Joyce (Stevie) Blanton and Ron (Mary) Marshall; grandchildren, Dwain Allen (Kristy) Marshall Jr., Doug (Barbara) Marshall, Theresa (Brian) Batten, Lisa (Deon) Collins, Erica (Billy) Cullens, Robert (Amy) Patterson, Jr., Ben (Toni) Patterson, Beth (Jason) Ward, Lori (Zach) Heasley, Andrea (Eben) Fritts, Matthew Francis, Bryan Marshall Jr., Jeffery Morris, Jamie Morris and Michael Marshall; 26 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Violet was employed for over 40 years by Vogue Swift Cleaners, spending many years in the operations but her last years were spent working the front counter enjoying the interactions with all the customers. She was a member of Souls Harbor Baptist Church where she was often found singing in the choir.  She also enjoyed singing in the River Harmony Chorus.  With her kind smile and easy conversation, Violet never met a stranger. She thoroughly enjoyed spending her time with her friends and neighbors at Norwood Greens Apartments, watching movies, playing games, and sharing stories.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt note of appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Marietta Memorial Hospital, 3 South.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024 at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Salem Township Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
