William Winter "Bill" Bawn, 82, of Marietta, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born May 11, 1930 in Irwin, PA to William John and Janet Marie Winter Bawn. He was a 1948 graduate of Lehman High School in Canton and attended the University of Wisconsin and the University of Akron. Bill served with the Naval Reserves from 1950 to 1958. He had worked at Remington Rand and Sperry Univac as Director of Engineering, retiring from United Technologies in 1995. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a 3rd Degree in the Knights of Columbus, Council #3777. Bill was an Eagle Scout. He was a life time member of the BPO Elks Lodge #477. He loved family visits and travels. He enjoyed watching football and golf, spending time outdoors, gardening, and his weekly luncheon with his good friend, Richard Hughes. Bill is survived by his wife Frances M. Oliver Bawn, they were married on July 1, 1950, also by his children, Damien Oliver Bawn (Martha) of Johnstown, OH, Diana Marie Bawn (Din Yee) of Medway, MA, Christopher William Bawn (Susan) of Olympia, WA, Loren Francis Bawn of Des Moines, IA, Mary Elizabeth Kelly of Toronto, Canada, and Michael Richard Bawn (Tricia) of Mesa, AZ, grandchildren, Alex and Katherine Yee, Philip, Meredith and Victoria Bawn, Anna Bawn, Liam and Frank Kelly, Isabel and Tyler Bawn, step grandchildren, John Gibbs and Gena Lundquist (Mark), step great grandchildren, Hannah, Maia, and Addyson Lundquist, sister, Kathryn Pujazon (Joe) of Canton, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Emma Bonnie Hart (Vern) and Ruth Gaug (Elmer). Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012, with the Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell as celebrant. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. There will be a Vigil Service at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday and services by the Elks Lodge at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in New St. Mary's Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Jude, P.O.
