William Lee "Bill" Bloomingdale, 74, of Marietta, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born November 11, 1938 in Whipple to Lloyd and Nellie Greathouse Bloomingdale. Bill was a 1957 graduate of Marietta High School, where he was named All State and the first All American in football for Marietta, and had continued on to the University of Kentucky and The Ohio State University. He had retired in 2004, following 40 years of service from BF Goodrich/RJF international. He was a member of Pinehurst Christian Church and had coached in the Marietta Bantam Baseball League. Bill married Karen Reneta Sheppard Bloomingdale on August 10, 1958, and survives along with two sons, William A. Bloomingdale ( Gail Holland), Thomas L. Bloomingdale, a daughter, Kelly A. Holland (Mike), all of Marietta, eight grandchildren, Eric, Tori, Alli, Ash, Ethan and Mariah Bloomingdale, Cody and Rylee Holland, great grandchildren, Carson and Carly Bloomingdale, sister, Janet Kay Santee (Ed ) of Marietta, good friends, Gloria Brown and Eugene Haught, their family dog, Cheyenne, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Jr., Richard and Bud Bloomingdale, and three sisters, Betty Burton, Mary Carver and Glenda Starkey. Funeral services will be held at the Pinehurst Christian Church on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. with Evangelist Dennis Frary officiating. Friends may call at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.
