William Edward English

April 28, 1927 — July 24, 2014

William Edward English, 87, of Marietta, died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Cleveland Clinic. He was born April 28, 1927 in Noble County to Lewis and Sally Morris English. Dr. English had received his PhD in Philosophy from Ohio University. He had worked as an assistant superintendent for Marietta City Schools and had been Educational Management Consultant for Ohio University in Lesotho, South Africa. He enjoyed farming and being in the country, playing piano, and loved his family. William is survived by his wife, Doris Lambert English, they were married on May 20, 1950; also surviving are two children, Marla English-Pickett (Ronald) of Texarkana, TX and Robert William English (Melody) of Atlanta, GA, seven grandchildren and one great grandson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Leader. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with Patricia L. Peoples officiating. Friends may call for two hours prior to his service. Burial will take place at Friends Cemetery in Quaker City. Donations may be made to the Marietta Memorial Health Foundation, P.O.
