William Duane "Bill" Oliver, 73, of Marietta, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital, following his battle with lung cancer. He was born October 28, 1937 in Cutler to Lloyd and Mabel Reed Oliver. He was a 1955 graduate of Bartlett High School. He had been employed at Kardex for 33 years, retiring in 1999. Bill was a member of Moose Lodge #1823 and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and repairing equipment. He is survived by a daughter, Jill Gerken (Kenny) of Whipple; grandchildren, Amanda and Zachary Gerken; two sisters, Corinne Austin of Columbus and Sue Fields (Jim) of The Villages, FL; one brother, Bob Oliver (Shirley) of Marietta; stepchildren, Bruce Warman (Maravella) of Bowling Green, Karen Sinclair (Doug) of Williamstown, WV, David Warman of Beckley, WV, and Jeff Basinger (Jackie) of Purcellville, VA; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nine nieces, and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Louise Oliver, son, Joe Oliver, sister, Francis Turner, and brother, Dick Oliver. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Pastor Ed Lowe officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to Marietta Home Nursing and Hospice, 210 N.
