William Clarke Seyler Sr., 68, of Poland, OH passed away peacefully January 14, 2019.
Born in Marietta, OH on November 9, 1950 a son of the late Robert Marion Seyler and Ann Smith Seyler. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sisters, Charlotte Healy and Barbara Hurst Healy, and brothers, Robert and Richard Seyler.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene Audrey Seyler, son, William Clarke Seyler Jr., daughter, Amanda Mary Sciola, brother, John Seyler, sisters, Margaret, Linda and Jennifer; 5 grandchildren, Mia, Tessa, Milo, Everett and Lucie.
To his friends he was known as Bill. Bill was a hard working father who served as general manager for Kmart Corporation for over 40 years. A devoted husband and catholic, Bill served as Assistant Grand Knight then Grand Knight for the Poland branch of the Knights of Columbus. He was also an executive on the board for the construction of the current sanctuary at Holy Family Parish in Poland, Ohio. Bill had a love for sports. He enjoyed coaching his children's baseball and soccer teams. An avid golfer and Steeler fan, in his free time you could often find Bill working on his short game or discussing how the Steelers will finish in the upcoming season.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at St. John's Catholic Church in Churchtown, with The Rev. Timothy Davison celebrating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
