Willis Harold Walls
Willis Harold Walls, 87, of The Inn, at Marietta, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009, following a brief illness. He was born February 22, 1922 in Whitesville, WV, a son of Thomas H. and Bertha O. Moyers Walls of Vincent. In 1942 Willis served three years in the Army in the Asiatic Pacific as a private in the medical detachment, 145th field artillery battalion, and received four bronze stars, a good conduct, and a victory medal. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1947, and took many college classes at Greenville Technical College, Greenville, SC. He worked in construction work for various employers until his retirement. He is survived by his sister, Oleta Lawton (Ed) of Fleming; five nieces, Linda Lawton-Goertzel (Ted), Leanne Lawton (Jim), Cheryl Haupt (Paul), Bonnie Bachman (Ed), and Cindy Mallahan (Allen); one nephew, Bruce Lawton (Cheryl) and ten great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother, Thomas Hubert, Jr., his sister Clara and infant brother, Forrest. Graveside services will be held Sunday, October 25, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Barlow Central Cemetery, with Pastor Helen Kline officiating.
